How to: Make Pig Cupcakes!

leave a comment »

I have been struggling to think of a different animal cupcake that would be easy to make so when I was searching the internet I came across this lovely picture. I think they look very much like pigs and there are not a lot of parts to it so even better. Below are step by step directions just to make your lives that much easier.

For these cupcakes you will need: frosting, marshamllows, butterscotch chips, mini chocolate chips and strawberry wafer cookies.

photo from

Step 1: take frosting and tint pink.

Step 2: With pink frosting, frost all the cupcakes.

Step 3: Take the strawberry wafer cookies and cut traingles, to make the ears.

Step 4: Now stick the ears on and two mini chocolate chips onto the cupcakes to make the eyes.

Step 5: Now is time to make the nose, so take a marshmallow and stick two butterscotch chips in it and stick on the cupcake.
You now have a pig cupcake, how cute is that! Enjoy 🙂

How to: Make Penguin cupcakes!

leave a comment »

Penguins are clearly one of the cutest sea animals there are so now to make them even cuter we will make cupcakes that look like penguins. Although they won’t turn out exactly like penguins they will still look pretty cute. Although I have not personally made these cupcakes either (as I am a very busy person and don’t find much time for decorating) I do want to make this at some point in time. They don’t seem to difficult, just different parts but thats a given with decorating.

(Photo from Patty Cakes Bakery blog)

Step 1: You will need to gather supplies including: big cupcakes (not frosted), mini donuts, donut holes, marshmallows, thin chocolate cookies, chocolate chips and yellow fruit chews such as starbursts.

Step 2: you will need to cut the mini donuts in half and after doing so using frosting put it on top of the cupcake.

Step 3: on top of the mini donut you will then put a donut hole using frosting again. Then freeze the cupcake

Step 4: You will want to take your black frosting and melt it a little, once that has happened you are going to take the cupcake with the donuts already attached and dip it into the frosting for an even black coat.

Step 5: You will need to cut marshmallows down a little, cut the chocolate cookies into wing shapes and cut the yellow fruit chews in half forming triangles.

Step 6: Attach the marshmallow to the front of the penguin, to make the stomach, attach the cookies on the sides for the wings and the yellow chew on the face for beaks.

Step 6: You will want to use frosting with a chocolate chip inside to make eyeballs and if you want to add feet you will need to cut yellow fruit chews to make those.

You have now hopefully made penguin cupcakes! enjoy 🙂

Spring break canceled

leave a comment »

In an effort to shorten the semester, Michael Crow, ASU president, cancels spring break.

Students who have been tanning, spending money and foregoing meals didn’t take the news very kindly.

Gina Randolugh had been planning her trip to San Diego for some time now.

“I already spent a lot of money for it, I mean I need a break,” Randolugh said.

Her sister Valerie said she needs this break more than a longer summer break.

Kody Kohler said “I’d be mad if I had plans because then I would have wasted money.”

Candice said “We need a break.”

How To: Turtle Cupcakes

leave a comment »

When searching for new decorating ideas I cam across the Disney website. From that website I found a really cute turtle cupcake idea that I would like to share, although I have not made it personally yet I think it is a good one to share for others to try.

Picture from Disney’s website

1. After baking your cupcakes you will need to gather your ingredients for decorating. The required ingredients are: frosting, sour peach rings, gumdrop candies, spearmint leaves candies and lastly chocolate chips.

2. Frost each cupcake to make an adhesive for the gummy candies to stick.

3. You will then need to cut all the spearmint candies in half to make the fins for the turtle.

4. After everything is cut and ready to go you will want to start by putting a peach ring candy on top of the cupcake. Inside of the ring put a red gum drop.

5. Next take the spearmint leaves and put four of them around the peach ring to make the four fins (use the picture for an example).

6. Lastly you need to add the head so put a green gumdrop in front of the front fins with two chocolate chips on either side for the eyeballs, and now you have a turtle!

How to: Make Turkey Cupcakes!

leave a comment »

Theres a cute way to impress your family during thanksgiving! With a treat that tastes good and looks the part! Turkey cupcakes!

To make these cute little guys you will need candy corn (although I used starbursts because finding candy corn was near impossible) little ginger snap cookies, big marshmallows, chocolate sprinkles, chocolate chips and red fruit roll ups.

Step 1: frost the big and mini cupcakes with your choice of frosting, I used caramel. Be generous with the amount of frosting so it is well rounded.

Step 2: take the gingersnap cookies and put a couple little dots of frosting and then a candy corn on each to make it look like feathers.

Step 3: roll the big cupcakes in some sprinkles so the sprinkles are only lining the edge. Also put a small amount of sprinkles on the top of the little cupcake for some hair.

Step 4: Now you are ready to attach the head to the body! So take a big marshmallow and cut it in half. You will put one half of the marshmallow on the big cupcake with the angle side on top and set the mini cupcake on the angle. Before putting the mini cupcake on the marshmallow you need to put the ginger cookie on the back of the mini cupcake. I put a little bit of frosting under the mini cupcake to help it stick and also on the other side of the cookie to help it stick to the marshmallow.

Step 5: Lastly is making the face, put two spots of white frosting with a chocolate chip inside to make the eye balls. Then comes the nose if you can find candy corn use those if not I used starbursts again with a little piece of red fruit roll up on the side.

You now have an edible tasty turkey! Perfect for thanksgiving or just someone who really loves turkeys! Enjoy 🙂

How to: Make Panda Bear Cupcakes!

leave a comment »

An exciting thing about cupcake decortaing is making the cupcakes look super cute! So we will start with the panda bear cupcakes, I personally would say that the look of the cupcake is just as important if not more important than the taste or flavor of the cupcake. Many blogs out there giver recipe ideas so I want my blog to be focused more on the way to decorate the cupcakes, make them look unique. These ideas will be an easy way to decorate without having to step foot in a commercial kitchen or even need to go to culinary school. Ways to easily impress friends and family on a daily.

The first cupcakes I have made that are  unique and cute would be the panda bear cupcakes! They look just like little panda bears but are 100% edible. A quick tip is to make mini cupcakes as well as regular size cupcakes, a mini cupcake is the way to make the head for any animal you are going to ever make.

Panda Bear

Cubby panda cupcake

After baking your cupcakes you are going to need a package of oreos, chocolate cheerios, vanilla frosting, mini marshmallow and mini chocolate chips.

Step 1: Take out as many oreo’s as you have cupcakes and cut them in half to make the feet.

Step 2: With the remaining oreo’s you will need to put them into a cusinart to grind them up to little crumbs, which you will use for the toping of the big cupcake.

Step 3: With the mini cupcake you will want to attach a mini marshmallow to the front and then frost over top of the marshmallow, this makes the panda bears nose.

Step 4: After frosting all of the mini cupcakes and having the big cupcake frosted and covered with oreo crumbs set the mini cupcake on top of the big cupcake.

Step 5: Place some chocolate cheerios on top of the head for the ears.

Step 6: lastly you need to add the details which are the eyes and mouth. For the eyes you want to stick mini chocolate chips into the cupcake and then place a white dot of frosting for the eyeball. With black frosting or gel food coloring, whatever you feel like using, make the nose/mouth and make the eye patches black.

You have now successfully made a panda bear cupcake, for those panda lovers out there! Enjoy 🙂
